About Me

it's vah-la-nay-roo

Hi! I’m VahLanayru, but most of you know me simply as Lana.

My journey into gaming started when I was just eight years old, sparked by watching my dad play. My very first device was a Game Boy Advance Color, and over the years, I became a massive fan of horror movies and games, frequently watching creators like Markiplier on YouTube.

In 2023, I finally hit "Go Live" for the first time, starting out with an Xbox playthrough of The Walking Dead Telltale series. Shortly after that first stream, I got my first gaming PC, which allowed me to truly dig into the horror genre and expand what I could do.

Today, I’m a variety creator with a library of over 100 titles - ranging from the brutal challenges of Elden Ring and The Witcher 3 to the atmospheric (and terrifying) depths of Subnautica and Silent Hill 2.

My Love-Hate Relationship with the Ocean

If you’ve watched me play Subnautica, Dredge or Still Wakes the Deep, you know I have a massive fear for water. I’m constantly caught between being mesmerised by the stunning visuals of deep-sea environments and feeling that visceral, thalassophobia unease.

Navigating ADHD

Being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult while trying to build a career as a creator has been… a lot. I try to be as candid as possible about it because it affects everything I do. You’ll see it in my gameplay when I’m completely blind to huge gameplay mechanics or miss "goodies" that are literally right in front of me. And if I’m in a boss fight? I’ll hyper-focus so hard that I forget to breathe until I’m lightheaded. I’m learning to prioritise resets to rest my brain, even if I still struggle with actually letting myself take them.

Giving Back

Over the last three years, this community has come together to raise over £6,000 for causes that truly matter. We’ve run successful campaigns for charities like Macmillan Cancer Support and Save the Children and seeing the impact we can make when we team up is one of my proudest moments as a creator. I’m always looking for new ways to give back, so keep an eye out for our next big charity event!

The Community

This mission is personal to me. I know exactly how it feels to be treated like you don’t belong, or to be made to feel "weird" for enjoying your hobbies. I’ve been the odd one out and I know the weight of not fitting in. That is exactly why our community exists: to ensure that no one ever has to feel that way here. Whether we’re celebrating a win or leaning on each other through a rough week, we make sure that no one navigates this world alone.
